Is there really a need?
|
Serena Major
Mrs. Major grew up and resided in
Oakland County MI. After meeting and marrying her husband Nick she and her two
children moved to Monroe. She enjoys being a stay at home mom to her now family
of seven children, which includes three step children. After becoming involved
with mentor single Mother’s, she saw a desperate need in Monroe County for a
lot of families in need. She has been a member of Redeemer
Fellowship Church for over 5 years, and became involved with GodWorks through an
opportunity to volunteer through there. She and her husband have enjoyed cooking
and hosting a meal a month for the soup kitchen for over two years now. Their
extended family of seven can usually be found donating their time as well. She
had hoped that it would become a family affair and it seems as though it
certainly has. All of their children can be found volunteering at some level,
and she is working on a program called Caring Coins for the elementary schools
to become involved with. Their youngest daughter was able to collect from her
school a large donation just through children donating coins for a period of
three weeks. Her passion is to raise awareness of
homelessness and to create profits for GodWorks Soup Kitchen in order to serve
those in our community that are in need. You can almost always find her planning
an event for GodWorks or seeking out clothing, and item donations to give away
at the meals.
