God Works

The God Works Family Soup Kitchen was founded in 2005 in an effort to feed the less fortunate in Monroe County on a regular basis. Before God Works was formed, there were only two free meals served each week in all of the county. Within one year of beginning our meal sponsorship, we expanded the availability of free meals in the City of Monroe to include every night of the week. Now we also serve meals each week in other parts of the county such as Temperance, Ottawa Lake, Dundee, and Flat Rock. Everyone who comes to the meals is served without charge and no strings attached.

God Works is a non-denominational 501c3 organization that serves meals in host churches. It has no employees, pays no salaries, and is staffed entirely by volunteers. Churches that are not a host church participate by supplying volunteers to prepare and serve a meal. Local businesses and other community groups also supply volunteers and financial support to keep the program going.

We are proud of how our area churches, employers and the community as a whole have rallied to help us alleviate hunger and loneliness in Monroe County.
